I’m Kate, a lifelong Banwell local and the person behind Banwell Barks.

I started Banwell Barks because I wanted to create the kind of dog care service I’d want to use myself: local, dependable and personal, with somewhere dogs can simply enjoy being dogs. At the heart of it is a secure private field where they can run, play and explore off lead, away from the pressures and unpredictability of busy public spaces.

The field is particularly well suited to nervous and reactive dogs, giving them the opportunity to exercise and explore at their own pace. But Banwell Barks is about much more than field hire. I also offer one-to-one dog care, daycare and boarding, pet taxi services for vet and grooming appointments, and wedding chaperoning for anyone who wants their dog to be part of their special day without having to manage all the practicalities themselves.

Having lived in Banwell all my life, the community side of the business is really important to me. I don’t want Banwell Barks to simply be a field with a booking calendar. I want it to become a familiar local place where dog owners feel welcome, get to know one another and know there’s someone nearby they can rely on when they need a helping hand with their dog.

I’ll be organising occasional get-togethers at the field too, with tea and cake for the owners and plenty of treats for the dogs. Nothing overly organised or formal, just an opportunity to have a chat, meet other local dog owners and help build a friendly community around something we already have in common.

Over time, I’d love Banwell Barks to become a genuine part of village life. Somewhere familiar faces bump into each other, new dog owners can meet people locally, and those with nervous or reactive dogs can feel included rather than having to avoid social spaces altogether.

Ultimately, Banwell Barks is about offering good, reliable care from someone local and building something positive for the community around it. Whether I’m looking after your dog for the day, getting them safely to an appointment, helping them be part of your wedding, or simply giving them somewhere secure to have a proper run around, I want both you and your dog to feel at home here.
